JOINT STATEMENT REGARDING CONFERENCE 1 MEETING BETWEEN UPA AND CULTIMATE

In response to feedback received from college Ultimate players and the Ultimate community at large about the Cultimate Conference 1 announcement, leadership from the UPA and Cultimate met via teleconference on Thursday (10/17) to discuss their respective goals and plans for College Ultimate and the potential for collaboration between the two organizations. A final resolution to the issue of potentially conflicting college championships is still to be determined. However, both organizations understand that an undivided championship is something that is critical to the players and the Ultimate community. To that end, the UPA and Cultimate have agreed to further discussions, including a meeting that will take place at the UPA Club Championships in a couple of weeks.

The 25 teams who were contacted by Cultimate regarding Conference 1 will be contacted with more details about what this means for them right now. Please look for an update with additional information from the UPA and Cultimate in early November.  Thanks to everyone who has provided public or private feedback on this issue. We look forward to a resolution that is positive for the sport and the Ultimate community as a whole.
