2010 WUCC

The World Flying Disc Federation (WFDF) has announced that Prague, Czech Republic has been selected to host the 2010 WFDF World Ultimate Club Championships from July 3rd - July 10th . Over 100 club teams representing 30 nations will gather to compete for the World title in the Mixed, Masters, Open and Women's Divisions.  

 

The UPA strongly endorses the participation of US teams and players in international competition. 

As stated in Article V of the UPA International policy, “the general goal of the UPA for international competition is to send the best possible representatives as US teams and players.  This means talented players who abide by the Spirit of the Game and who are ideal ambassadors of US Ultimate and the UPA.”

Initial US Team Allocations

WFDF has released the initial team allocations for the 2010 World Ultimate Club Championships in Prague, Czech Republic. On behalf of US teams, the UPA has accepted all slots allocated and will nominate teams based on the criteria set forth below. Please note that WFDF expects in some divisions that not all initial bids will be filled and bids will be re-allocated if/when they become available.

Information regarding the official team registration from WUCC 2010 will be communicated by the UPA to eligible teams as soon as it becomes available.

1/1/2010 - Wailtlist bids will be announced
3/15/2010 - Waitlist teams deposits due to WFDF
5/15/2010 - Players fee due to WFDF
7/3/2010 - WUCC Tournament begins

World Ultimate Club Championships – US Teams allocations

Selection Process
A
. U.S. teams in the Open, Women’s, Mixed, and Masters divisions will be invited based on their order of finish at the UPA Club Championships the previous year and the number of invitations received from WFDF.
B. When selecting the qualifying teams, non-U.S. teams will be skipped over and the next highest-placing U.S. team will be selected.  Non-U.S. teams who compete at the UPA Championships may receive invitations from their own country; as per WFDF they are not eligible to be invited by the UPA. 
C. If a team declines a bid, the next highest-placing team in their division will be invited.

Selection Criteria (when additional invitations become available for US teams)
A
. UPA Club Championship’s attendees, in order of finish, subject to minimum standard of sportsmanlike play, as determined by the committee.
B. Defending WFDF champions.
C. Wait list of teams who have, in writing, expressed interest in attending the Championships.  These teams will be ranked in order, based on their finish in their respective Regional Championships.

2010 WUCC eligibility rules
The WFDF Ultimate Committee has released the Club Team Eligibility Rules which are to be used for teams wishing to play in the WFDF World Ultimate Club Championships 2010 in Prague. More specific team eligibility rules, as determined by the UPA within the framework of WFDF's rules, are outlined below and will apply to all teams from the U.S.

UPA/US Team Eligibility Requirements
Eligibility Requirements

A. A team’s players must be on that team’s roster for the UPA Club Series immediately preceding and/or following the WUCC.

B. A team may add three (3) additional players to its WUCC roster before the final team roster is due to the UPA. These players are excluded from the above requirement, but each must meet at least one of the following requirements:

1. Player was on that team’s roster for the UPA Club Series up to three (3) years prior to the WUCC.
(E.g. For the 2010 WUCC, this would include the 2007 or 2008 Club Series. Note: The 2009 roster is covered by A above.)
2. Player resides for at least 50% of the calendar year leading up to the WUCC in the
     a. Section in which the Mixed, Open, or Women's team
         played in the WUCC - qualifying UPA Club Series.
     b. Region in which the Masters team played in the WUCC -
         qualifying UPA Club Series.
3. Player participates in at least two (2) tournaments with the team between the end of the WUCC - qualifying UPA Club Series and the start of the WUCC, where "tournament"is defined as an event where both:
     a. There are a minimum of four (4) teams participating in 
         the team's division
     b. Each team in the team's division must play at least
         three (3) games.

 C.  If a UPA member plays in the WUCC with a U.S. team and does not meet any of the above requirements, that member is barred from participating in the UPA Championship Series following that year's WUCC.

D. If a team's roster for the Club Series immediatley following the WUCC is formed such that it would retoractively prevent the WUCC roster from meeting the following requirements A and B, the team will be ineligible to participate in that year's UPA Club Series.

E. A player may participate in only one division at the WUCC.

F. Players must be UPA members at the time the World event takes place.

The UPA realizes that the teams representing the United States at this tournament will undergo a tremendous financial burden. Suspension of Eligibility

As per Article X-Discipline in the UPA Bylaws, participating players and/or teams may be suspended from participating in an international competition for repeated and deliberate injurious behavior or for repeated and deliberate disregard for the Rules of Ultimate. Such suspensions shall be carried out in accordance with the disciplinary policies established from time to time by the Board of Directors, and all such actions shall be reviewed by the Board. No such action by the Board shall be taken until the player or team involved has been informed of the pending charges and has been given an opportunity to present a defense to the Board. The Board may delegate is disciplinary authority to a standing or temporary Disciplinary Committee of the Board.
